This course enables practitioners to examine effective methods for working with fathers and male caregivers, incorporating research and developing skills and confidence.

• The significance and context of involving men/fathers in family settings.
• Challenges encountered by practitioners when working with men/fathers in families.
• Effective strategies for engaging father figures; understanding men's experiences with services.
• Techniques for understanding and communicating with men and father figures.
• Methods for locating and engaging men/father figures in families (guiding models).
• The importance of assessing both strengths and risks associated with men/father figures within families.
• Mapping the relationships of men and father figures within family structures.
