Who we are
London Borough of Newham is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a ‘Data Controller’ This privacy notice applies to you (‘the service user’) and London Brough of Newham (‘the Council’). The Council takes the privacy of your information very seriously.
What data do we collect
We collect your contact details such as name & email address and/or telephone number details and where applicable accessibility information.
Where a course charges a fee, we will collect payment information. Card details will only be used at the time of processing a card payment and will not be held or stored on our system.
Why we collect your data
We collect your contact details to allow you to participate in your chosen training course including where applicable accessibility information to ensure that the course is accessible to you.
The lawful basis for processing your data
The lawful basis we use to process your data as set out in UK data protection legislation is:
(a) Consent: you have given clear consent for us to process your personal data for a specific purpose.
How we use your data
Social Care Academy records names, roles and contact details for the purposes of distributing the training brochure and to support any training records. In addition, course evaluations and application details are held by Phew.
Attendance and non-attendance information is recorded and reported on an annual basis to the Senior Leadership Team and the Newham Safeguarding Children Partnership executive board.
Who we will share your data with
We will only share your data with Phew for the purposes of booking training.
How long we will keep your data
We will keep your data safe and secure for a period of seven year(s) from entry on our system in line with our retention Schedule. After this time, it will be securely destroyed.
How do we protect your data
We comply with all laws concerning the protection of personal information and have security measures in place to reduce the risk of theft, loss, destruction, misuse or inappropriate disclosure of information. Staff access to information is provided on a need-to-know basis and we have access controls in place to help with this.
