Session objective: This session is designed to strengthen multi-agency working by enhancing practitioners' knowledge and understanding of child sexual exploitation (CSE). It will equip participants with skills to effectively safeguard and protect diverse children at risk of or currently experiencing sexual exploitation. Through real-life examples, evidence, and personal reflection, participants will reflect on local protocols, statutory guidance, and the systemic and institutional factors that affect children's safety, with a focus on best practices in contextual safeguarding.

- What is child sexual exploitation (CSE)?
- How common is CSE in Newham?
- What are the signs that a child is being exploited?
- What actions should I take if I’m concerned, and what are the roles of other agencies?
- How can I ensure all children are appropriately safeguarded, and families are supported?
Learning outcomes:
- Clearly define what child sexual exploitation is—and isn’t.
- Identify signs that a child may be at risk of exploitation.
- Understand the factors that increase a child’s vulnerability to exploitation.
- Learn your responsibilities in safeguarding children and how to act on concerns.
- Recognise and address personal and systemic barriers to effective safeguarding.
