Children and Adolescent: Mental Health Awareness
This session will focus on recognising the signs that a child or young person may be struggling with their mental health or wellbeing. It will give an understanding of the risk and protective factors that can impact mental health and wellbeing and share practical strategies and resources to support individuals.

- Medical vs Recovery and social model of mental health.
- Offering initial support - , practical strategies to support in the moment
- Active listening, normalising conversations around mental health and wellbeing
- Understanding ways to refer to further support and recognising we don't have the answers to everything and that is OK!
Becky Dawson is an experienced educator who has worked in primary and secondary schools for 20 years. She is a facilitator, consultant and coach working with young people and the adults who work with them, with a focus on developing understanding and skills for frontline workers around mental health support, wellbeing and safeguarding.
