1 hour Permanence planning workshop for social workers, led by Yvonne Michael, Permanence Manager. 

Monday 3rd March: This is an in-person session at Dockside room W3.07a

Monday 6th October: (repeated) in person room tbc. 

 

Understanding Permanency Planning: Social workers will learn the importance of creating stable and supportive environments for children who cannot live with their birth families. This includes understanding different types of permanent arrangements such as return to family, adoption, kinship care, and long-term fostering

 

Collaborative Working: Social workers will understand the importance of teamwork in achieving permanency. This involves working with carers, teachers, health professionals, and legal teams to find the best outcomes for children1.

 

Case Planning and Management: The training covers effective case planning, including assessing the child's needs, setting goals, and implementing plans to achieve permanency. Social workers will learn to navigate the legal and procedural aspects of permanency planning.

 

Addressing Barriers: The training will also address common barriers to achieving permanency and provide strategies to overcome these challenges, ensuring timely and effective planning
